BSC Systems can minimize the impact of the new CUI Safeguarding Rules on your organization.

A proposed rule requiring contractors to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) has become final, and many contractors may not be aware of these controls.  CUI is defined as technical data or computer software tagged with a Distribution Statement B through F (see DoD Instruction 5230.24). It requires contractors and subcontractors storing or transmitting that data to implement 51 security controls as defined in the National Institute of Standards and Technology Special Publication 800-53, or provide justification for alternative controls or a case for the control’s inapplicability.  The details of this new requirement are contained in the Federal Register.

How You Can Be Prepared

Auditing for compliance with the new rule is at the discretion of the DoD Contracting Officer.  Don’t be caught by surprise during your next DSS Inspection by being unprepared for these new requirements. Contractors have a limited time to meet control standards. Start now with our support and be ready!
